*Keep in mind that possible changes made by the client after the project has been handed over to them may make the site look different from the one in the portfolio

History of the «Step to the Stars» project

The «Step to the Stars» project began in 1997 with Mykhailo Poplavsky's idea to create a national children's show to identify talented children and popularize Ukrainian culture.

The project was a joint effort:

  • First National Television Channel
  • Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts
  • International Charitable Foundation «Gifted Children of Ukraine»

«Step to the Stars» was a free competition for all children that allowed them to realize their creative abilities. This gave the project great social significance. «Stars» came from different parts of Ukraine to shine on the stage of the National Palace of Arts «Ukraine» with their talent. The main condition was to perform songs in Ukrainian.

Mykhailo Poplavsky, the author of the idea, producer and chief director, is convinced that national consciousness should be formed from an early age. That's why he instilled a love of work and perseverance in achieving goals.

"For 15 years, we have found tens of thousands of talents from the largest cities and most remote villages of our country, discovered many new names that have conquered many peaks of artistic Olympus. «Step to the stars» — is an investment in the spiritual future of Ukraine"
Mykhailo Poplavsky

After the launch of the competition on Ukrainian television, children's programs accounted for 3% of total broadcasting. However, the «Step to the Stars» project ensured the high quality of the filming process, involving novel approaches to set design and modern equipment.

Also, the emergence of new hits for children in the Ukrainian music space was a significant event.

Supporting children

The «Step to the Stars» project was a political, ideological and creative decision by Mikhail Poplavsky. It was support for Ukrainian culture, effective assistance to talented children and a significant contribution to the future of Ukraine.

The project «Shore of Hope — Step to the Stars» was aimed at children with disabilities, orphans, and children deprived of parental care. On the eve of St. Nicholas Day, the participants received nice gifts and sweets, as well as unique emotions from the performances.

Finals of the contest

Since September 2005, the final of the contest has been held on the big stage of the Artek International Children's Camp in Crimea. The gala concerts brought together thousands of fans of the talented girls and boys.

The event lasted for a week and ended with a gala concert featuring the winners of the «Step to the Stars» national television children's competition.

Popularity

«Step to the Stars» has become a cult project all over Ukraine. In addition to being broadcast on the First Channel of Ukrainian Television, the program was aired on almost all regional TV companies.

Each city, town, and village considered it necessary to hold a contest with this name. This was supported by the organizers, because the main thing is that children should be able to express their creative talents.

The organizers of the «Step to the Stars» contest continued to take care of the talented children. The Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts invited them to study, which gave them a chance to get a prestigious education.
